1. Astronauts on the International Space Station witness around 15 sunrises and 15 sunsets every day.

 

The International Space Station travels at a pace of 17,100 miles per hour. That means it orbits Earth every 90 minutes—so it sees a sunrise every 90 minutes. Thus, every day, the residents of the ISS witness 16 sunrises and 16 sunsets.

 

2. The Sun’s rays on your skin are 1,70,000 years old.

Although this energy reaches Earth in just 8 minutes from sun’s surface to your eyes, it will already have taken, on average, 1,70,000 of years to travel from the Sun’s core to its surface.

 

3. The highest mountain known to man is not the Mt. Everest but the Olympus Mons!

Olympus Mons on Mars is the tallest mountain on any of the planets of the Solar System. Standing at 26 kilometers tall and sprawling 600 kilometers across. To put this into scale, this makes the mountain almost three times the height of Mount Everest. /Olympus Mons(A large shield volcano) on Mars is almost three times the height of Mt. Everest, which is 27 km tall.  It is 55o km wide at the base.

 

4. The largest Diamond is even larger than the Earth.

Astronomers have discovered the largest known diamond in our galaxy. Found 50 light-years away in the constellation of Centaurus, named Lucy. It is about 25,000 miles across, so much larger then planet Earth, and weighs in at massive 10 billion-trillion-trillion carats.

5. We all are made of stars.

Do you know that most of your body mass is stardust?  90% of body mass is star dust, because all the elements are created in stars, except hydrogen and helium.

6.  When you look into the sky, you are looking back in time

Since Light takes time to travel from one place to another, the farther out in space you look, the farther back in time you see.
